This tutorial guides you through adjusting the ratio of an image in Canva to create better-fitting thumbnails. You'll learn how to customize and edit images to improve their appearance on your event homepage.

1. Explain Image Ratio Challenges
As you know, sometimes a vendor or an event already has a poster created in a different aspect ratio than what the thumbnail is. Additionally, you may not have a file with layers to adjust the aspect ratio. I'm going to show you on canva how to quickly remedy this.
2. Customize Image Appearance
Customize your image so that it looks better on the event homepage.
3. Identify Poster Fit Issues
Here is our poster that does not fit.
4. Adjust Image Fit and Position
Adjust it to fit the top and bottom height, and I'm going to bring it center stage.
5. Duplicate the Image
Now, I'm going to duplicate this by either doing control C control V, or right click duplicate.
6. Enlarge the Duplicated Image
And I'm going to enlarge this image as big as I can so that it fills up the whole screen width wise.
7. Send Image to Back
I'm going to send this image to the back.
8. Open Position Settings
Click "Position".
9. Select Positioning Option
Click here.
10. Edit Image Blur
While still on that image, I want to hit edit. Blur.
11. Adjust Blur Intensity
Whole image and bring the intensity to about 50.
12. Click Intensity Slider
Click "Intensity".
13. Exit Blur Editing
Note that while you're here, you will only see the background image. Once you're done exit, the blur.
14. Preview Thumbnail Appearance
And you can see the preview for the thumbnail. This is going to look much better on your home screen.
